South Neighborhood

The South neighborhood is located west of I-5 at the southern edge of Bellingham. This area of town offers beautiful Evergreen forests, parks, trails and streams.

Homes for the most part, are along the main roads of Chuckanut Dr, Old Samish Rd and Old Fairhaven Parkway. Ranging from smaller older homes to large custom built homes and large lot sizes, this area has a true feeling of rural living. With the exception of multi-family housing in the north part of the neighborhood, development has been limited because of restrictions.

Parks include, Arroyo Park, which is a 67 acre park along Chuckanut Creek in the southern part of the neighborhood. The Interurban Trail, which is a 7 mile trail that runs from Fairhaven to Larrabee State park and popular among bikers and hikers. The Fairhaven Park and Rose Garden is another city park, located on Padden Creek, this 17 acre area is highly valued by the community.

Shopping is abundant in the Fairhaven District. Boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and close to downtown Bellingham. This area is a major attraction.
